Soccer bragging

Where do the weekends go?? I bet you are wondering the same thing. Please share ideas for slowing down. We keep saying we're going to and yet, it seems like we're still rushing.

Yesterday the boys had soccer games (rec teams) and photos so it was a busy morning. I actually love going to the park for the games because this is a rather small community and you get to know and see so many familiar faces. Now the boys are old enough to go off on their own with their teams, which is great because that allowed me to spend time with one of our very favorite families and their young ones (the youngest being not yet 4 weeks old!) and that is fun. [The above photo includes V's friend, whom we lovingly refer to as our third son.]

V. and S. play on fields right next to each other and yesterday their games overlapped. There I was, on the bleachers between the fields (and sitting with both opposing teams) yelling "GO ORANGE!" (Both of their teams have orange colors.) I saw S's first goal. Wooo HOOOOO! Then I saw V's first goal. He took a ton of shots that either missed or the goalie caught, but by the end of the game, he had 4 goals. In the meantime, while I was trying to watch both games, I somehow missed S. scoring two more goals, for a total of 3! So 7 goals between them - not a bad day! I get such a charge out of watching them. I am the quintessential soccer/basketball/swim mom. I love it! And I have to watch myself so that I don't get too braggy! (I just can't help it sometimes.) But we always talk about how great their coaches are (all volunteers) and how it's still teamwork. Without good defense and ball handling and assists, they wouldn't be able to score like that. They really have their mature moments.
